Prosperity Partners was born from a vision of founder Michelle Singletary. As a syndicated columnist for The Washington Post, television host, and public speaker, Singletary shares practical yet profound financial advice that she traces back to her grandmother Big Mama’s common sense financial practices. The response to her clear, no-nonsense style was more than one person could handle.
Emails poured in and people lined up, often in desperate situations, looking for answers and personal assistance with their financial troubles.
“Often after I speak to a group, I'm greeted by a line of people who want me to personally help them with their finances. As much as I want to help, I can't be a Big Mama to them all.”
– Michelle Singletary
At the end of yet another speech with another line of people, Michelle decided to create a program that would get others involved to address the overwhelming need. Michelle knew there were other “Big Mamas” out there that could share their own experiences, motivate others to do better with the money they have, and serve as mentors providing the right resources to improve finances.
The concept for Prosperity Partners is simple. People who possess the sound financial wisdom demonstrated in Big Mama’s management style (senior partners) help those who are financially challenged (junior partners). Senior partners work with people one-on-one and in groups. This extra attention is what sets Prosperity Partners apart from other programs. Not only are there workshops that present basic financial information, but junior partners have help from senior partners who walk alongside them to help them achieve their financial goals.
Prosperity Partners Ministry has helped hundreds of individuals and families start saving for the first time in their lives, get out of debt, clear up errors on their credit reports and establish a budget. The program is even credited with saving many marriages as couples work through financial problems, thereby reducing the number one strain on many American families -- money.
The key to Prosperity Partners is the fellowship and matching up people with others who are on the path to prosperity.
Prosperity Partners is a discipleship of women and men working together to attain financial freedom. Through financial education and discipline we seek to live what it says in Matthew 6:21: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
We hope to show people that prosperity is more than just having stuff. Prosperity is
about striving for a way of life that directs our financial resources toward those things that glorify God.
